Music

Performing as DJ Ecotone, Ben has built a career as a musician traveling the world to record animal sounds and sampling their voices to make music that inspires conservation. Currently, he is on a virtual tour with the National Arts Centre of Canada as part of the Great Canadian Orchestra Field Trip.

Ben was honored to perform music and speak about his research as part of a lineup that included several symphony orchestras and a cohort of other very talented folks in science and music. Their performances were all recorded and are currently being distributed for free at over 10,000 public schools across Canada.

This on-demand learning series is focused on the transformative power of art and music in the climate emergency. If you know anyone who would enjoy having this program in their school, please feel free to send them this free registration link: https://am.ticketmaster.com/nac/en/GCOFT

A collaboration of unprecedented likeness and scale, this exceptional learning program reflects the talent, expertise, and labour of an impressively dedicated team: partner orchestras, featured artists, guest scientists, curriculum writers, production teams, hosts, and so many others.

Aligning with the NAC’s sustained efforts to combat climate change through advocacy, audience engagement, and a reduced carbon footprint, this digital resource brings national attention to artists’/musicians’ unique capacity to better the world. On Earth Day, April 22 and beyond, we invite you to share this programming widely!
